Self-examination is important. How can we know ourselves if we never take a close look? Self-examination does not always mean that we look for what is wrong with us. It’s just as important to know what is right with us, and what can be made better in our lives. No one knows us better than God. So instead of comparing ourselves to others or simply taking a glimpse ourselves on the surface, we must look deeply. The bible, God’s word is the tool by which we measure ours lives.God’s Word: Each one should test their own actions.

Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else. Galatians 6:4 NIVPray: Father as I contemplate the act of self- examination, I pray that your word will be the mirror that shows me to myself. I want to look at myself as you do, through the eyes of truth. You have ordained this necessary act. Your word says to let everyman examine himself. Therefore in an act of obedience, I come to you. Uncover me to my own self so that I can see what actually is.

Whether there is sin, shortcomings, faults or imperfections, help me to own up to what you reveal. Take away fear, pride, and blame so I can be face to face with what you want me to see about my true self. This way I can prepare myself to live for not only myself, but for you and others as well. Amen.Affirm: I will courageously look into God’s perfect mirror embracing the truth of what I see.Step Out: Finding the truth about ourselves can be painful, but that’s the first step to making necessary changes. We should avoid seeing ourselves and failing to act on what we see. As God reveals both good and less favorable things in us, let us willingly move closer to becoming the image that pleases God.
