Remove your head unit. Actually, don't mount it yet.Find where you are going to mount it and work out if you need to add any wire to your converter to get it to reach comfortably to where your head unit cables are. Everythings working, you just need to mount your converter to something, only really to stop it rattling and tapping when you're driving, then cable tie any loose wires together and make sure they won't interfere with things like your glove box lid. Avoid cable tiying the extension wire to solid things, as it will make removing your head unit difficult in future. Otherwise you can just undo the plug from the converter and then the back of the head unit.Run your RCA wires and remote wire to your Amplifier and then enjoy improved music quality:)Hope i have helped, Please comment. I understand why LOCs are needed but I'm unsure on how to install LOCs in my situation.
I am keeping my factory radio, installing new front/rear speakers, new 14ga speaker wiring with the addition of a pair of subs and a 5 channel amp. My front and rear speakers are high powered capable, so I'm wanting the amp to power the speakers, not the factory radio. So my question is. If I ran the new wires from the front/rear speakers to the factory radio, tap the converter in the new wires, and run the RCAs from converter to amp. Do I still need to run another set of wires from the speakers to the amp? It seems like I can only find videos and articles where the situation is using the factory wiring and the amp powering the sub theonly. I might be going about this the wrong way.

Please let me know if I am. Any advise will help! Thanks in advance! You would not need to run new cables from your speakers to your factory head unit as i understand our.
Just your speakers to the amp. The converter would be able to use the original factory speaker cables, as it is pre-amp there is no extra power there. Does your amp have high-level input? If yes you can bypass the converter and wire from the factory headunit (speaker outputs) i to your amplifier. In this situation, with a large complete system upgrade, it might be worth considering changing the headunit. Hope this helps.

Not exactly, your battery/alternator will still run the exact same amount just to recharge the cap instead of powering your device directly. The ONLY thing a capacitor does is keep your headlights from dimming every time the bass hits. It does this at the expense of audio quality so unless your headlights are dimming enough to bother you all a cap will do is make your stereo sound worse.
There is a really long thread on this topic over on crutchfield where a couple of electrical engineers explain in much more detail than I can. If you need me to I can dig up the link, if you Google 'car audio capacitor' it should be one of the first results.
